After Oliva’s demise, his son Sergio Oliva Jr. aspires to uphold his father’s name in the bodybuilding world. The Cuban government noticed Sergio Oliva’s bodybuilding capabilities, which helped him to elevate himself as a bodybuilder. Soon, Sergio decided to participate in Mr. Olympia and went on to win the title unconquered from 1679 to 1969.

Sergio Oliva Jr. is beginning to reach the top. The bodybuilder won the pro debut at the New York Pro in 2017. The 38-year-old is also a two-time Best Poser at the Arnold Classic in 2020 and 2021. As of now, there is no news of Oliva Jr.’s participation in Mr. Olympia 2022.

Oliva Jr. frequently experiences comparison with his father. In a podcast interview with Menace Podcast, he opened up about how it feels to take on his father Oliva’s legacy, “I think no matter what, people always have something to compare me to.”

Oliva Jr. further stated, “Every bodybuilder in history, except Hunter [Labrada], has the luxury of getting compared to themselves. This person does a show, they’re going to get compared to their last show. I get looked at against my last show and against one of the greatest bodybuilders ever.”

Although Oliva Jr. does realize the striking comparison with his father, he does not ignore the pressure. He religiously trains his body by performing his father’s famous Victory Pose in every session. Oliva Jr. feels that he might not be doing the pose right, but he does it to honor his father.
