After the Pan American Games Olympic qualifier in Acapulco, the Paris Olympics 2024 qualification bouts reached Italy, the very birthplace of ancient boxing. The ongoing World Qualification Tournament scheduled on March 3-11 in the Italian town of Busto Arsizio welcomed full-heartedly the boxers from all over the world, who are still yet to gain the Parisian berth. However, for American boxer, Roscoe Hill, the welcome message seemed not to be in a favorable place.

Last evening the 29-year-old boxer appeared in the 51-kg weight category to cement his nomination in the Paris Olympics 2024 event. However, with a disappointing defeat, some alleged controversies loomed in the bout as the boxer had to bow out meekly.

Coming from a rich boxing legacy, Roscoe Hill was eyeing his second Olympics berth donning the Stars and Stripes. But Nijat Husenyov, the Azerbaijan phenom, decimated that dream last night with a straight win against Roscoe. However, the situation went far south as the American lightweight boxer himself complained about an alleged conspiracy to defeat him there. After finishing the boxing match, the orthodox boxer shared an IG story last night that showed some specifics on that. The actual IG story came out from HGMember Nun More, with lines like, “Bro Veins Out His Neck… They Nons Counted The Drop Like These Refs/ Judges Be Cheating. You won That Hoe By Far [emoji]”.

Roscoe Hill took a few hours to showcase his iron-hard mindset, despite the heartbreak in the Italian battle. In the subsequent IG story, the boxer added, “They love to see Roscoe lmao nobody in the world got these skills.. “I mean nobody”… I’m still the goat… [emoji] I’m still arrogant am I am what I am..[emoji]”, he retorted. Roscoe Hill could acknowledge his father for delivering that kind of attitude that helped him dream beyond.

A legacy is on the rescue

As mentioned several times, Roscoe Hill’s father was trained in boxing with the legendary fighter, George Foreman, under the tutelage of Archie Moore. Eventually, Roscoe learned many punches from his father and witnessed Foreman in his amateur days. His mastery with the defensive tackles came from that background only. “They taught him everything he knows and he passed it down to me,” he recollected to the Olympics.com. In this dark time as well, he is counting on that legacy that once earned him USA Boxing’s praise and gained him the nickname “Mongoose”. Seemingly, his fans are also yet to lose hope for him as several tweets have come in his favor after the debate surfaced last night.

The Team USA Tracker’s X-handle came along in that account. The handle went a few steps further in calling out USA Boxing to make a rejoinder on the status quo. Moreover, it registered its discomfort over the entire referring situation in the concluded bout. But as of now, no one has come forward to clear the brewing obscurity of the situation. However, that discrepancy should not affect Roscoe Hill’s Olympic dream more. He is on the route to fulfill his guardians’ urge to be on the Olympic berth. The present one has made an unfinished chapter in that journey.
