After amazing the boxing world on the road to Paris, with his dominance, and securing numerous medals to his name, 2021 World Champion, Robby Rahim Gonzalez has now come one step closer to actualizing his Olympic glory. After winning two consecutive world titles, and the Strandja Cup in Bulgaria this year, the two-time boxing champion, Robby Gonzales has achieved a new milestone.

Robby Gonzales shone brightly in the Boxing First World Qualification Tournament which took place in Busto Arsizio, Italy on March 4, thrilling the fans with his standout performance on the road to Paris victory.

After witnessing the standout performance of Robby Gonzales at the boxing 1st World Qualification Tournament 2024 in Italy, team USA took to its official Instagram handle @USABoxing to celebrate the great victory of the US boxer. Posting multiple-spirited pictures of US boxing sensations, they shared the details of his notable triumph. The post caption reads “Just a boy chasing his Olympic dreams 🥊 @rahimgonzales kept @teamusa’s wins coming with his 5-0 victory during day 2 of boxing in Italy! #RoadtoParis #USABoxing #TeamUSA.”

Robby Gonzales, a native of Las Vegas garnered the unanimous opening triumph at the 80 Kg weight category on day 2 of the qualifying boxing event on March, 4 in Busto Arsizio, Italy. Taking the wise decision he defeated his opponent, i.e., the 2020 Olympian, Eldric Sella from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Refugee Team.

Gonzales had a 5-0 lead on the scorecards. Still, he wasn’t the only one with such an advantage, as Sella knocked out the USA Boxing star in the second round with a brilliant cross punch in the Boxing First World Qualification Tournament. However, the 2021 light heavyweight world champion, showcased his extraordinary expertise on the mat by regaining his composure, earning a ticket to Paris 2024.

Gonzales accepts obstacle as a part of the journey

After securing the ecstatic win, Gonzales shared his experience during the tournament. As per the Olympics.com, he stated “I’ve had a rough three months. In my last tournament, I lost on the first day, and I haven’t lost on the first day of a tournament for a while.” Despite facing adversity during the game with his self-reliance and enthusiasm, he qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024.

I got dropped in the second round, and I had to overcome that adversity and come back, but my whole career has had obstacles, so I am ready to get the job done. I am ready to get my golden ticket (to Paris 2024),” Robby added further. As he has come a step closer after securing this win, he is all set to chase his Olympic gold dream.
