Her winning streak which started with Miramar Invitational, continued onto the Doha Diamond League and is flourishing with the recently concluded Kip Keino Classic. However, for her next event, Richardson has decided to take a breather. While this might upset her fans, who were beginning to see her rise after a string of previous controversies, Richardson has withdrawn for reasons known to her.

Sha’Carri Richardson will not be running at the next track and field event, which is scheduled to take place on June 3rd. While the current ‘fastest woman’ hasn’t said it explicitly, reports of it are circulating far and wide.

For reasons unknown, Sha’Carri Richardson won’t be in Jamaica next month

As per a Nationwide report, Sha’Carri Richardson has opted out of the Racers Grand Prix this coming month. As a part of the Continental Tour Silver in World Athletics, the Racers Grand Prix is scheduled on a Saturday at around 6 pm. While some of the finest track and field athletes are expected to land in Jamaica for the event, the current world record holder in the 100m race for women will be absent.

Sha’Carri Richardson first burst into the athletics world in 2019 with her national record in the 100m event at the collegiate NCAA Division 1 championship. She finished the race in 10.72 seconds. Now, 4 years later at the Doha Diamond League when she created a new record by finishing the 100m event in 10.76 seconds, it was a far more impressive result. She broke the previously held record of Tori Bowie who finished in 10.80 seconds.

Now, as Sha’Carri Richardson bows out of the Racers Grand Prix in June, it will still be a star-studded affair. From Shericka Jackson, and Noah Lyles to Toby Amusan, several champions from the athletics world are expected to light up the event.

Multiple athletes are set to grace the event

Jamaican sprinting sensation and current 200-meter world champion Shericka Jackson will look to make her mark in the competition. Jackson, who also won the 4×100 meter relay gold medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020, might also benefit from Richardson’s absence. Further, Noah Lyles will also compete. After winning the bronze medal in the 200-meter at Tokyo Olympics, Lyles has been on an upwards journey. He will look to continue that in Jamaica. Hurdles champion and world record holder Toby Amusan will also be present.

The Racers Grand Prix is returning after two years and the excitement in the athletics world is rife. The events are scheduled at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, and from 3 pm on 3rd June, the city will witness some of the best competitions around. As to why Sha’Carri Richardson has opted out, she is yet to respond.
