Just a few days after the injury, it seems she has already embarked on a demanding road to recovery. Klimke sets her sights on a remarkable comeback and is looking forward to making it big in the upcoming events, determined to rise above adversity and reclaim her rightful place in the competitive arena.

A setback on the field
In a report published in HORSE&HOUND, recently, during the 2023 CCI 4* at the Luhmühlen Horse Trials, Klimke experienced a major setback when she fell off her ride, “Equistros Siena Just Do It.” The incident occurred as the mare attempted to over-jump obstacle 14c but lost her balance, leading to Klimke’s fall. The fall resulted in a collarbone fracture, requiring immediate surgery. However, the 55-year-old Olympian is already on the road to recovery and is eagerly looking forward to sitting on the saddle again.

Reflecting on her surgery, Klimke expressed optimism, stating, “It went great.” She also expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support she received during her surgery, stating, “Dear friends, a huge thank you for your lovely messages on all channels. That feels so good and inspires me a lot.” What unfolds is that she is already working hard to participate in a major event this month.

Rising from the Ashes
Despite the physical and emotional toll of her injury, Klimke is determined to make a triumphant return to the arena. Ingrid Klimke, alongside Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Isabell Werth, is scheduled to compete at the German Nations Cup at CHIO Aachen, taking place from June 23rd to July 2nd. She will be riding her 2022 World Dressage Champion, Franziskus.
