Harrison Ford has amassed a fortune of $300 million in his career, and Indiana Jones has a big part to play in that. As the star returns as the titular archaeologist once again, he sat down with Esquire recently and talked about his love for horses, not unlike an equestrian, and his experiences riding them in all the films. He also picked a favorite one for a specific reason.

Harrison Ford developed a deep connection with horses while shooting

To start off the interview, Harrison Ford repeated Esquire’s question to him by saying, “You’ve worked with several stunt horses over the course of your career. Do you remember any of their names?” He then responded, “Well, I do remember Hurricane. Hurricane was a fantastic horse. I could ride him right up to a tank and I’d stuff a rock in the cannon, he was dead solid”. All memories came flooding him right off the bat.

Hurricane was the horse Ford rode in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), the 3rd installment in the franchise. Doing this interview as Esquire’s latest cover star, Ford was honest enough to admit that he owes a lot to all the horses in his career for the stunt work.

Ford also shared that he rode the horse in Spain, where some portion of the movie was shot. The name was ‘Huracan’ in Spanish. Ford confessed that instead of facing troubles, as many Hollywood stars find it troublesome to ride a horse during shooting, Ford had a great time riding it.

His horseriding skills are still pretty impressive

Harrison Ford was so impressed with his experience of riding ‘Hurricane’ during the shoot, that he wanted to buy it and adopt it for himself. However, he realized it “turned out to be too much trouble to get him over here from Spain”, meaning bringing it cross-border over to Los Angeles. His horseriding skills have been on point in all the Indiana Jones films. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, the first film, he rode a horse while chasing a four-wheeler military vehicle, and he will be seen riding a horse again in the upcoming film.

The 5th in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be directed by James Mangold instead of Steven Speilberg for the first time. In the trailer for the film, Ford, now 80 years old, is seen riding a horse in the middle of the streets. Fans will have to wait till June 30 when the movie releases to watch him in complete action.
