The 2023 Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) has captivated equestrian fans all over the world with its unmatched prominence in the show jumping industry. Aiming to leave their marks on equestrian history, the world’s best competitors are currently vying as the season reaches its peak. Additionally, the circuit is well-known for its prestige and huge prize money. Leading up to the big finale, the LGCT Super Big Prix underwent in Prague.

A packed house of more than 12,000 spectators watched in awe as 16 riders, each with an incredible journey through the LGCT circuit ready to square off. The scene was set for an incredible showdown that would determine the winner of the 2023 Longines Global Champions Tour. Before the display of talent and pure equestrian artistry few equestrians gathered to engage in a fun activity for their fans.

On November 18, all eyes are focused on the O2 stadium in Prague, home of the fifth edition of the LGCT Super Grand Prix. The event sponsor, @longinesglobalchampionstour posted a video featuring nine equestrians. Captioned, “The LGCT Super Grand Prix explained by those who know it best, our golden ticket winners.” With a €1.25 million prize fund, spread over two rounds 2️ and intriguingly, no jump-off, much more was revealed by the athletes. Four-time Olympian Edwina Tops-Alexander also shared how round 1 marks are “done by the computer” now reflecting on earlier meets comparatives.

Sweden’s performance at the penultimate LGCT Grand Prix in Rome was outstanding. Eleven riders completed the Uliano Vezzani circuit at the ancient Circo Massimo, five of whom had previously qualified for the LGCT Super Grand Prix. Although Julien Epaillard, David Will, and Von Eckermann had already locked up their spots earlier in the season, the other competitors fought for the coveted golden ticket.

Following an early season accident, Christian Ahlmann—dubbed the “comeback king”—earned his spot with a glorious comeback. It was Peder Fredricson’s fourth participation in the LGCT Super Grand Prix, and he secured the coveted position with a clear jump-off round. Despite opposition from rivals, such as a strong showing from Andreas Schou and I Know, Fredricson’s quick ride guaranteed him a spot among the elite in the final clash in Prague.

Longines Global Champions Tour recap!

In the four years of the Longines Global Champions Tour, there have been two joint podium finishes in 2022. In Madrid, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Darragh Kenny shared second place, while in Hamburg, Andre Thieme and Michael Pender finished behind their respective winners. But in the LGCT Super Grand Prix, a first in history occurred when the golden ticket was divided between two riders who combined to take second place.

The much-awaited GCL Super Cup Final on Sunday will bring the exciting horse racing action to its climax. The culmination of this esteemed event is highly anticipated by both fans and enthusiasts.
