The upcoming weeks are packed for equestrian fans and enthusiasts, as there is a list of events that are happening. Saratoga Race Course events are already at their peak. Another major announcement has been made for a race that will take place this Saturday. Some of the toughest horses in the equestrian business will face off. This race will be a decider and a ticket for a forthcoming esteemed Grade I thoroughbred race.

The stakes will be at their peak, but it looks like one equine athlete and his trainer have already tightened their saddle belts to make their way to the top.

The upcoming equestrian challenge

As reported by Paulick Report, the Del Mar summer meet has geared up to host the first Grade I race on July 29, the G1 Bing Crosby. 12 of the best horses will lock horns to earn a qualification for the 6-furlong, 34-mile Breeder’s Cup Sprint scheduled for November this year. American Theorem and his trainer, George Papaprodromou, with $13,866,125 in career worth, will be looking to repeat last year’s performance. In addition to American Theorem, Papaprodromou is also entering his other trained horse, Spirit of Makena. Talking about it, Papaprodromou stated, “Hopefully, one of them wins.” He added, “May the best horse win. They both belong there.”

American Theorem is slowly making his way into the list of the bests in the sprint division. He was the winner of two consecutive Grade II races last year, Grade II Triple Bend in June and Bing Crosby in July. If that was not enough for him, he came second in the Grade II Pat O’Brien in August and got left behind with just a few inches. The dual face-off between two of his tutees will be a sight to watch.

Their records and statistics to watch out for

Both American Theorem and his mate, Spirit of Makena, have great records from the last few races. Spirit of Makena made his way to the top in the entry-level allowance at the Santa Anita in February and then won another Grade III San Carlos in March. With a win at the Grade II Triple Bend, he fixed his spot for the Breeder’s Cup challenge.
