While Bill Gates has a passion for computers, his eldest daughter Jennifer Gates has a surprising passion for horse riding. Recently, she opened up on how she persuaded her father to let her follow her dream of being a world-class equestrian. Competing in various horse riding competitions such as the Longines Global Champions tour, Jennifer has, since then, polished her skills.

Speaking about how horse riding helped her bond with her now husband, Egyptian equestrian Nayel Nassar, Jennifer talked about how the sport had become an integral part of her life. She goes on to share how she convinced her parents to support her passion.

Jennifer Gates tells fans lesser-known details about her horse-riding journey

Jennifer narrated how she loved horses from an early age and convinced her parents to allow her to take lessons at a local barn. In a conversation with CNN, she added, “I always thought it would be a childhood hobby, but I’m so grateful that it still has a place in my life.” After graduating from Stanford University, Jennifer focused on her equestrian passion, receiving encouragement from her parents.“I couldn’t do this without their support, both emotionally and with the horses”, she expressed. Further, she spoke about how her parents motivated her to always keep learning and expressed gratitude for having all the resources to fulfill her passion.

Talking about her relationship with Nasser, Jennifer remarked how her passion was shared by her husband, a professional equestrian. Playing for the Paris Panthers, Nassar also participated in various equestrian events like the FEI World Equestrian Games. “So, to be able to share our love and passion for horses with each other is just incredible”, she stated.

Jennifer Gates further discussed how her fledgling passion was nurtured from a young age by her father. At the age of 15, when Jennifer wished to train for the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), Bill Gates rented an enormous mansion, that had eight bedrooms with all the facilities required for equestrian training.

Jennifer’s desire was to compete in the jumping category of the WEF. Sparing no effort, Gates had arranged for four horses on lease, with exceptional jumping abilities, along with trainers. With this, he also ensured that the mansion had various facilities such as a barn and a media room. The billionaire had rented the mansion for 6 months to help his daughter prepare.
