It’s been 3 months now since Jennifer Gates gave birth to her baby girl with fellow equestrian husband Nayel Nassar. It was a joyous occasion in the Gates household then, with Bill Gates brimming with pride and happiness. However, in these 3 months, the responsibilities and duties of a mother soon caught up to her. In order to stop that from happening, Jennifer Gates took to her Instagram story and shared another post by Instagram handle Gates Foundation. The post read, “3 Ways to Reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality”. The first way was, “Reduce post-partum hemorrhage”. It went on to describe, that as per a new study, “A low-cost drape that can measure blood loss, can reduce excessive bleeding by 60% and save lives”.

The next point was, “Ensure access to ultrasounds”, which basically suggested taking the help of “AI technology” and “ultrasound probes” that help in ensuring a “healthy pregnancy and childbirth experience”. And the 3rd point was “Scale interventions that work” which essentially makes sure that products and medicines that are tested, reach pregnant women or mothers en masse.

The post finally concluded with the broad suggestion that this is an ongoing fight and that investment and innovation towards medical sciences cannot stop at any point and at any cost for this to prevail. It read, “Having a safe pregnancy and successful delivery shouldn’t depend on where you live. It shouldn’t depend on whether you are rich or poor. It’s what every mother-to-be and every child deserves”.
