The Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympics was the fourth occasion of its kind. The riveting character of this game remained in the “unity through sport” and sent a message to bring “positive change” in the geographical region. Centering on these two parts, the Olympic hosting committee chose someone as an ambassador from the Winter Olympics background who could motivate the youth. The chosen star played that role in every inch since her emergence into her favored sport. But along with that, she wore many hats.

On the concluding note of Gangwon WYO 2024, those numerous hats also earned a moment of praise from the Olympic hosting committee, leaving the world as witnesses to it.

The Korean region had already witnessed its first Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018. So, on that line, now with the Gangwon 2024 edition of the Winter Youth Olympics, the region had all the boxes ticked for hosting the highest winter sports. But Korea had received its first figure skating medal a long time ago, in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Yuna Kim was the ultimate winner. Eventually, this time, she was the ambassador of the Winter Youth Olympics Games. Yuna Kim had two back-to-back Olympic medals in figure skating. Moreover, she had an undefeated record until 2017 of having the highest combined total. Because of this prowess, the 33-year-old skater had earned the glorified rivalry with Mao Asada, the 3x world champion figure skater. Yuna Kim was also the first Korean woman to win the Junior Grand Prix Final in 2004. Eventually, on the next two occasions as well, she was the winner. But apart from that, Yuna Kim also holds the hat of being a fashion designer. As per the IG post, the 2x world champion once designed traditional wear for London Fashion Week. However, becoming the YOG ambassador also came to Yuna as one of her special achievements.

The moment of shared acknowledgment

At one point, Yuna Kim withered the idea of involving her kids in the sport of figure skating. As a reason, she mentioned the hardness of the sport to continue with. But for the Winter Youth Olympics, the figure skating legend had her utmost respect saved. “I think (the Youth Olympics) is a very important opportunity as an athlete because all the athletes who are competing in the Youth Olympics today are experiencing huge nervousness at the (Youth) Olympics and will experience the main Olympics for the second time when they become adults,” she conceded.
