On their X post, Figure Skaters Online announced the Russian figure skater’s suspension. According to the media release by CAS, the Russian skater has been further punished for the rule violation. The origin of all these problems may be traced to a figure skating event back in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Then, the 15-year-old Valieva tested positive for trimetazidine. The cardiac medication increases endurance, for which it is banned from use in any event, by the World Doping Agency. The Russian team did achieve more points than the competitors, the USA and Japan; however, they have to surrender their medals due to the controversy.
