The greatest Olympian of all time Michael Phelps’ soul ventures on different sporting journeys, among which golf is the major highlight. Besides being a motivational speaker, the 28x Olympic medalist is an avid golfer. He has proudly admitted that the workouts for swimming have been tweaked for golf since his retirement.

Building a strange connection between both sports, he had stated, “Focus on the small, simple technique things”. As a professional golfer specializing in both strokes and brand endorsements, his camaraderie with prominent figures in the golfing world became evident when one of them sent him a gift.

In an Instagram story, Michael Phelps shared a photo of himself holding a pair of sneakers. Showing off his excitement, he tagged LPGA Tour golfer Michelle Wie West.

Interestingly, the caption says, “Thanks @michellewiewest. I feel like a kid in a candy store”. The white sneakers were a collaborative product of Nike and West, released before her last US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach resort. The beauty lies in how West ideated fashionable wear while keeping her Hawaiian heritage and South Korean roots alive. The vibrant pink laces and multiple Easter eggs hidden on the blue Nike emblem came together perfectly in the Michelle Wie West x Air Jordan 1 Golf “Wave”.

As happy as Phelps looked on receiving the gift, it can be assumed that Wie was equally enthusiastic about sending a token of love to a fellow golf fanatic. But how does the greatest swimmer connect swimming with the field sport?

In an interview with Golf.com, the Baltimore Bullet had said, “Naturally, when you’re playing golf, and for me, as someone who is a feel person — that’s how I was when I swam — you just get into that rhythm the more repetitions that you have.”

This statement by Phelps clearly asserts that his penchant for golf grew hand in hand with swimming. Not only this, the motivational speaker could see remarkable changes in his nature as well. “You’re gonna learn so much patience and so much more about yourself”, he conceded. Moreover, he wishes to see his sons walk in his footsteps and “obsess about the sport” like their father.
