Having fought in high-stakes games on a regular basis since Nick Saban moved to Tuscaloosa in 2007, the sixth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and tenth LSU Tigers have developed a strong rivalry. Even though Alabama has dominated recently?it has a 10-1 record dating back to the 2011 BCS National Championship Game?the Saturday night game revealed a fascinating story that revolves around the audacious decision taken by Brian Kelly, the first-year head coach of the Tigers. At Tiger Stadium, the bold and successful 2-point convert proved to be the decisive element in the end.

After saying goodbye to Rece Davis and the team, Lane Kiffin sent a brief word about the big game that evening: ?Have fun in Tuscaloosa. They tell me I?m supposed to root for LSU today so, Geaux Tigers.? Obviously, the response from the Tuscaloosa audience was predictably negative. Although at first glance it could appear as though Kiffin is making fun of the Alabama supporters or subtly criticizing his former coach, Nick Saban, there is a good reason why Kiffin would rather see LSU win.
