At the training center, recently, Asher Hong took his shot at the “new element” on rings. The move was so impressive that besides the fans, it also left talented artistic gymnast, Khoi Young speechless.

A new variant of handstand on rings to try; Difficulty level – ‘Pro’

Icelandic national team gymnast, Jón Sigurður Gunnarsson took to his Instagram page @nonniofficialinstagram to post a video of him trying out the “new element on rings” along with his training partner and Asher Hong. The caption reads, “Half turn in a handstand on rings what would you rate it?” The fans were encouraged to rate the move, and the responses were quite interesting.

Besides Gunnarsson and Hong, gymnast Dagur Kári also joined in for the competition. As per the video, while Gunnarsson and Kari took two attempts to get the move right, Asher, though seemingly struggled to maintain the top position initially, got it right in a single attempt. Team USA gem Khoi Young was in the background, watching them perform.

Khoi Young appreciates Hong’s “new element”; Fans rate the move

Khoi Young joined the fans in the comment section to rate the handstands performed by the gymnasts. Seeing Hong conquer the move in his first attempt, he commented, “I was astonished 😂.”  Notably, 4X NCAA Champion, Ian Gunter marveled at the move, as he wrote, “This looks so hard 😂.” To which, Gunnarsson replied, “I believe in u.” Asher Hong, also joined the comment spree, penning, “This skill gotta be a ‘G’ value!!!”

Gymnast Dagur Kari rated the move “Easy.” A host of fans joined in to rate the “new element on rings”. One of them wrote, “D element for Do not try at home, this stunt was performed by professionals.” While another fan rated it as “C.”

One fan mentioned the risk element that is potentially associated with the move, particularly in the Olympic year. They wrote, “One good torn ligament in your hands and you’re out of the Olympics.” They also added a word of caution to steer away from the risks.
