Simone Biles carved her name in gold by bringing home seven medals for the USA in gymnastics. In 2020, the USA gained prominence thanks to Suni Lee, another gold medallist gymnast. These two gymnasts could have made the US one of the strongest contenders in the Olympics.

Unfortunately, Simone Biles and Suni Lee did not perform at the world gymnastics championships held on Tuesday. It was the first time Simone Biles did not perform for the USA since 2012. The USA still turned out to be dominant and made space in the Paris Olympics 2024.

The World Championship without Biles and Lee

In an Instagram post, usagym shared a post congratulating all winners and all citizens of the US. The post was captioned as “The United States Women win a record-breaking sixth-consecutive Team Gold at the Artistic World Championships and have qualified for their spot in @Paris2024!“.

The US earned 166.564 points, leaving behind Britain with 163.363 points and Canada with 160.563 points. All three teams qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The remaining nine teams would be decided at next year’s championship.

The USA team consisted of veterans and newcomers who won the sixth world championship held in Liverpool. Shilese Jones, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Leanne Wong, and Skye Blakely came together to hoist the American flag on Tuesday.

On their victory, Shilese Jones said, “We’re all capable of doing big things and more. This is just the beginning of everybody’s comeback career. Just wait and see. I’m super proud, and I know we’ll be able to hit something big in ’24.

Where are Simone Biles and Suni Lee?

In the 2020 Tokyo games, Simone Biles withdrew from the Olympics owing to her mental health issues. 19-year-old Suni Lee then came to the rescue and saved the Tokyo Olympics by bringing home gold.
