The Core Hydration Classic is warming up the apparent weather at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Amid that, several participating gymnasts have complained about the impact of the environment on air traffic. The 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas has already revealed her getting stuck in Dallas after her flight to Connecticut was canceled. Now another prominent gymnast’s family has taken up the platform to inform about the issue. It is Jordan Chiles’ mother Gina Chiles.

Just an hour before, the Chiles lady had narrated about the ‘crazy storm’ that remained at the core of the problem of air traffic. But thankfully, Jordan Chiles already landed safely in Connecticut as Gina has mentioned in the IG story. The only reason could be that the Chiles family started their journey in the early morning to keep the storm behind. However, still, no update is there from Gabby Douglas about reaching Connecticut. In the meantime, a weather emergency is in place regarding Dallas and neighboring regions.

Explaining the critical situation, the National Weather Service (NWS) has placed a flood watch expecting massive rainfall in regions like Dallas, Fort Worth, and Plano. Meanwhile, a severe forecast of thunderstorms has made the situation more worrying. The Weather Service has requested the locals to safeguard their livelihoods thinking about a further deterioration of weather. So, following Gina Chiles’ lead, an early journey could have been a probable solution. For Jordan Chiles, the occasion is going to be historic as she has already missed the previous elite contests like the Winter Cup and American Classic this year. But has she ever faced the 3-time Olympic gold medalist before?

Gabby Douglas vs. Jordan Chiles: the faceoff that never happened

This year’s Winter Cup could have been the first occasion where Jordan Chiles and Gabby Douglas would appear together. But both gymnasts missed the opportunity for their distinct reasons. Later in the American Classic, Gabby Douglas held her nerves to break her 8-year hiatus in elite gymnastics. But Jordan remained absent once again. But Jordan is coming to Hartford all guns blazing with a killer mindset.

Just a few days back, the 23-year-old gymnast cleared the air regarding her mindset in the Olympic year. Describing that, she said, “If you guys want to know what my motto is this year, my motto is ‘I’m that girl’”. Adding a layer to that, she reminisced about her achievements in recent years, which include the Olympics, world championships, and Pan American Games. Before stepping into the Tokyo Olympics, Jordan also proved herself a force to reckon with successes in the 2021 Winter Cup, US Classic, and the major elite titles. However, Gabby Douglas must have watched her, filling in the team that she left after the Rio Olympics.

So, the Core Hydration Classic will be an unknown yet known fight between them, to prove themselves as Simone Biles’ deputy on the Paris Olympic team. We can only pray that nature does not play a spoilsport in that!
