You may have seen Simone Biles achieve glory in gymnastics. Her smiling picture with medals is a hard one to miss. However, the road to that glory was never easy. Before overcoming the hurdles on the vault, she had to brave past her insecurities and fears. Achieving success at a young age, it was understandable from Simone’s end to get confused at life’s junctures.

On one such occasion, when she was confused about what should be done, her brother Ron gave valuable advice that eventually changed her life for the better.

Simone opened up on her brother’s advise

All that glitters is not gold. Often seeing the smiling pictures, we miss out on the pain and hardships one goes through before achieving the feat. There came a point in Simone’s life when she had to choose between her gymnastics and higher education. Simone knew that her professional commitment made it difficult to pursue a full-fledged education. Hence, the dilemma!

It was when her brother, Ron, came to help her. Sharing worldly advice, Ron said, “the main thing is to respect your talent.” Simone spoke about the incident in detail in her book “Courage To Soar High.” Giving her a moral boost, he added, “look at all the places you’ve been, all the challenges you’ve overcome.”

Also, making it easier for Simone, Ron reminded her that she was doing it for herself. A wise decision eventually changed her future for the better. He said, “this is your chance to set yourself up.” The elder brother reminded her that it was her deal and she was free from the family’s responsibilities. He added, “don’t need anything from you.” It helped Simone to make a choice that eventually changed her life for the best.

The path to Simone Biles’ Olympic glory 

As Ron advised Simone to chase her dreams, the latter realized it was wise to give up one to achieve a bigger one. She pursued her Olympic dream. Simone decided to leave no stone unturned to make her dream a reality. She decided in July 2015 to turn pro.

She eventually secured her place in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Creating history, she secured gold in the all-around, team, vault, floor, and bronze on the beam. Winning one competition after another, Simone now has 25 World Championships and eight Olympic medals. That makes her the GOAT!
