With Paris 2024 looming and less than 100 days left, Douglas aims to secure her spot in the U.S. team. However, her absence in the first day of the event has left fans anxious and raised concerns about her comeback. It has left supporters eagerly awaiting further updates on her comeback journey. On April 27, 2024, Gymnastic Now’s official page provided an update on X, reassuring fans of Douglas’s participation despite her absence from podium training. The tweet reads, “Update on Gabby Douglas, who was not at American Classic podium training but is still set to compete tomorrow “. It was  a reply to a fan tweet who posted, “Yeah – I’ve heard that WOGA Frisco was there, as well. USAGym confirmed for me around 2:30 pm CT that they hadn’t been notified of any changes regarding Gabby’s participation.”

The 2024 American Classic is crucial as it’s one of the last chances to qualify for the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships and subsequently the U.S. Olympic Team Trials before the Paris Games. Missing out on any opportunity could jeopardize her Paris dreams. In response, fans expressed a mix of emotions.
