Cecile Canqueteau-Landi, who, along with her husband Laurent Landi, entered the Biles’s WCC gates in 2017, is soon to part ways with the training camp. Georgia Gymnastics has newly appointed Cecile Landi to coach the GymDogs squad with the hope of seeing the team in the NCAA finals in 2025. This comes after Georgia’s longstanding coach Courtney Kupets Carter was dismissed after she could not bring any NCAA title to the program during her seven-year stint. But this newsbreak wasn’t something completely unpleasant to the elites and others who are associated with her.

There were several speculations about who would replace Cecile and how long she would serve her notice. Nellie Biles has released a statement that has pointers untying all these knots. Capping off with We’re so proud of @CLcecile,” Nellie confirmed that Cecile would be serving till July and her replacement would be recruited by June 1st.

On the other, Jordan Chiles, one of the most decorated gymnasts of the USA Gymnastics team and WCC, will also miss the presence of Cecile. Especially her mother, Gina Chiles, who took to her X to write,So very happy for you @CLcecile!! You’ve been amazing for our daughter @ChilesJordan and you’ll be amazing for many more to come!! Congratulations!”

Simone Biles’ mother Nellie, founded the World Champions Centre to facilitate her daughter’s path to success. In the US, WOGA was the Landis’ first stop. The duo went on to coach Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Madison Kocian and world champion Alyssa Baumann during that stint. After the Rio Olympics, as they were considering their next course of action, they received a call from Simone Biles with an offer to coach her. Rest is history.

The following years would see Simone rising to new heights, including World titles in 2018 and 2019, and multiple new elements named in her honor. While her association with Landi is much talked about, Jordan Chiles’ story is also not something to go unnoticed. Alongside Simone Biles, Cecile and Laurent took charge of preparing Chiles for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after her move to the WCC in 2019.

“We always knew she was super talented,” Cecile had said about Jordan Chiles. But even with that, preparing her for the Tokyo Olympics was a “race against time,” according to Landi. But they achieved that. And that landed Jordan as the silver medalist in the Tokyo Olympics. But that is not all. Landi was instrumental in changing the way Jordan looked at the sport of gymnastics. “I discovered that gymnastics doesn’t always have to be about strictness and being so hard on yourself and having so much doubt,” she had said, referring to the change.

As Cecile prepared to take on another challenge, more wishes kept coming as the WCC youngsters extended their kindest regards to the WCC head coach. One of them is Joscelyn Roberson, who has proved herself as a precocious talent on the elite stage time and again.

Simone Biles’ younger compeer made good use of her social platform

Inside Gym’s Instagram post, which featured Cecile waving to the Georgians, was shared by Roberson in her story. She captioned it as, “Congrats!! SO SO PROUD OF YOU ALWAYS @cecilelandi. Go Dawgs for you only!!” Joining her was Zoe Miller, who posted the same story with the caption, “oh my”. Though these women have a lot of luck to give to their beloved coach, they’re also a tad bit sad about her departure.

The French-born Cecile left the French National Training Centre for the US in 2004. Meeting Laurent was already an achievement in itself, which culminated at the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy. After that, they navigated through WOGA and finally landed at WCC in Texas together. For the first time after marriage, the couple would not be in proximity due to work obligations.
