The stills of something dynamic and breathtaking

USA Gymnastics recently added a post on its official Instagram page carrying four photos of US gymnasts. The post carried the caption, “Photo of the Year Nominees: Women’s Artistic. 2023 saw World Champions, Pan American Champions and National Champions rise as gymnasts prepare for the path to Paris.”

The post further read, “New faces & returning stars alike proved the future of the sport is in great hands.” The first image was of Tokyo’s all-around gold medalist Sunisa Lee, followed by the greatest gymnast of all time, Simone Biles. The remaining two shots displayed team images showcasing Jordan Chiles, Zoe Miller, Joscelyn Roberson, and many others.

While Simone Biles, Suni, and everyone else are just the subjects of the photographs, they still add great value to the images. The confident pose of Biles, the downward gaze of Lee before mustering the strength and tolerance for a routine, and the carefree vibe of the group photos.

All these elements significantly add up. Interestingly, USA Gymnastics also said that the winner of the picture will not be decided by them. In fact, the decision for the winner of Photo of the Year will be decided by the fans via polls.

USA Gymnastics also mentioned in their caption, “Cast your vote in our Instagram Stories for your favorite photo from the Women’s Artistic Discipline!” While this method will allow fans to directly vote for Simone Biles, it will also allow them to vote for their other favorites. The competition is usually one-sided when Simone Biles competes in any event.
