Gymnastics News: Survivor Of Rare GBR Disorder Tyler Turner Is All Set To Fight At USA National Team Camp 2024

Gymnastics is a sport where a strong mind and heart are needed. Tyler Turner, a 15-year-old gymnast, has been a warrior since her debut. When Tyler Turner was seven years old, her family recognized the passion for gymnastics. Unfortunately, a very different kind of bug nearly shattered Tyler’s dream of becoming a gymnast.
On this, Tyler’s mother Corrin said, “I thought it was a stomach bug”. But Tyler had been diagnosed with GBS when she was just a child. However, she turned out to be a survivor and chose gymnastics as her career. Fast forward to 2024, the young prodigy qualified for the USA National Team Camp 2024, turning her dream into a reality.

Tyler Turner took to her Instagram as she approached the National Camp, sharing a heartfelt post. It was a glimpse into her life as the four-slide post shared each and every stage of it with the caption, “HAPPY 8 YEAR GBS ANNIVERSARY”, as the 15-year-old explained her journey without even saying a word.

In that post, a girl-child is in a hospital bed, which was the time when she was diagnosed with the syndrome. From there, she flew high, and an older Tyler Turner was performing gymnastics. Her path was never easy at all. She had to learn to walk again, but she came back tougher as she passed this hurdle.

Tyler Turner shared that her gymnastic journey began after she recovered at the age of 7.5 years. Moreover, it is termed a late start after a gymnast has started after 7, but she denied that too. The gymnast shared about her journey saying, “I told my parents that I really wanted to do it and then I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome”. From dreaming about it to being a gymnast herself, Tyler Turner has come a long way, denying the challenge posed by life.
Tyler Turner and the Olympic dream
From being temporarily paralyzed to being an athlete who performs at perfection, Tyler Turner has been a warrior. She was a part of the winning team at the 2024 International Gymnix junior division, as well as grabbed titles at the 2024 Winter Cup. Tyler became the Junior Olympics Level 7 State and Region 1 Champion. After that, she qualified for national testing, stepping towards the National A Camp.

Her goal has been to be an Olympian like Simone Biles and cast her name in gymnastics history. She looks forward to climbing the junior Olympic ranks to become a collegiate-level gymnast. As the Paris Olympics 2024 draws closer, her team will go to Paris to compete against talents from around the globe.
