She said, “I really felt numb because, besides crying, I really didn’t know how to express my feelings. … [Simone making it to the Olympics means a lot, because this has always been [her] long-term goal… and as her mother, I’m just extremely proud that she will get to fulfill this dream.”

Over time, Simone rose to the highest level in gymnastics with her top-notch performances. However, there were times when her mother expressed her care harshly for her.

Simone has shared her mother’s thoughts regarding gymnastics in her book. During the beginning of her career, Nellie avoided Simone and gymnastics, maintaining a distance. During Simone’s childhood, her mother boldly warned her to practice more efficiently. All in all, there is no comparison of the sacrifices Nellie has made for her legendary gymnast daughter.

Simone Biles’ mother surrendered her dreams

The four-time gold medalist gymnast’s mother had cried happily many times when her daughter won the competitions. However, once Simone revealed how her mother left all the dreams she had after adopting her. Biles wrote in her book, “My grandparents were almost done raising their boys, and now here we were, four young children who needed the kind of attention and care that Grandma Nellie thought she was about to retire from.”

She added, “She needed time to wrap her mind around the idea of doubling the size of her family. She also had to make peace that her dreams of traveling the world would have to be put on hold. Busy as she was with her nursing career, she also worried about whether she could truly give us the care we needed, especially after the disruption we’d experienced with Shanon.”
