No one would want big celebrations to be marred by troubles, but Simone Biles‘ family seems to be battling the same. As fans await her wedding with bated breath, festivities might just take some more time to come. Recently, the Olympian’s elder brother, Ron Biles Jr., announced an unfortunate health update.

While the gymnast enjoys some time before her wedding, Ron has been making trips to the hospital. In a recent Instagram post, the father of one described his condition for which he would need surgery. Let’s dive into the details.

A significant surgery that could change Simone Biles’ brother’s life

This isn’t Ron Biles Jr’s first rodeo. The gymnast star’s brother was suffering from hip problems for a long time. About two and a half years ago, Ron went through a complete left hip replacement. Recovering from that, according to his wife Sammi Biles, “was awful”. Unfortunately, his right hip now needs attention, although this surgery isn’t a replacement.

Ron suffers from a severe stage of Avascular Necrosis that causes a part of his femur bone to die. His left hip was already under severe conditions before it was replaced. But now, his right hip is also suffering. Doctors plan to perform a procedure called ‘Core Decompress’ that hopefully saves or delays the need for a complete replacement.

In an emotional and detailed message, Ron and Sammi appealed to fans on Instagram to pray for them and their well-being. On the other hand, Sammi expressed the stress of juggling her husband’s health and taking care of her baby.

Nevertheless, even if things go well, the father and husband revealed, “I will not be able to walk on my leg for 6-8 weeks, on crutches, and using a wheelchair as well.”

Family always stays close

Although Ron’s condition is serious, the Biles family stands shoulder to shoulder with him and his wife, Sammi. In his health update post, he also tagged his sister Adria, and mum Nellie, indicating that they were with him in the hospital. Sammi even went on to thank her in-laws for helping her with her baby while she needed a break.

Ronni Biles, also lovingly known as Baby Biles, is the apple of everyone’s eye. Simone has often taken to her social media to gush about her niece and post updates on her. Both she and Adria have often declared their love for the toddler and couldn’t wait to spoil her as she grew up!
