It has been a while since the names Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were used in conjunction. Their highly publicized and contentious divorce saw Heard accusing Depp of abuse, followed by Depp filing a defamation suit. After a lengthy trial, the jury ruled in favor of Depp. With Halloween just around the corner, a retired gymnastics prodigy and her friend decided to revisit memories related to this pair. Katelyn Ohashi added a playful twist to the situation.

Katelyn Ohashi once brought Simone Biles, widely considered the G.O.A.T. of gymnastics, to heel. The 26-year-old retired from the sport in April 2019, having faced the aftermath of multiple injuries and subsequent surgeries. However, that wasn’t her only challenge. She openly admitted to struggling with an unhealthy relationship with food, which, in turn, affected various aspects of her life, including her chosen sport. Fortunately, she has made significant progress. This was evident as she was spotted showing off a radiant smile while dazzling in her Halloween costume.

Gymnastics sensation Katelyn Ohashi as Queen Mera, with Jack Sparrow
Katelyn Ohashi dressed up as Mera from the DC Extended Universe and shared a story on Instagram with several images of herself in the costume. However, Ohashi ditched the signature red hair of the character. But she wasn’t alone; standing behind her was a notably taller friend dressed as Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. The accompanying caption humorously read, “Rumor has it that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were seen together.”

In the background of the images she shared, a variety of Halloween decorations could be seen. In one of the pictures, Mera had her hands playfully placed at Jack Sparrow’s throat, creating a humorous scene. That image was captioned with the shortened form of the words “Never mind.” This, however, won’t be the only occasion where Mera and Jack Sparrow capture the public’s attention together.

Mera and Jack Sparrow will return to the big screen
Both characters are set to return to the big screen. Mera, portrayed by Amber Heard, has appeared in films like Justice League, Aquaman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. She’s reprising the role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, scheduled for release in December, just a week before Christmas. Meanwhile, the character of Jack Sparrow is also set to return in the sixth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which is in development.

As fans of both Depp and Heard eagerly anticipate the return of these two stars to the big screen following their highly publicized divorce drama, gymnastics prodigy Katelyn Ohashi managed to playfully link the two with humor. If we ever get to witness the scenario of Mera playfully strangling Jack Sparrow on screen, the credit for this amusing concept undoubtedly goes to Katelyn Ohashi and her friend.
Ohashi, who began her journey in the sport at age 3, went elite at 12. Despite the challenges she encountered, she persevered in gymnastics for a period. Meanwhile, her life has reportedly improved since the tumultuous times. As a graduate of UCLA, she is now relishing her post-retirement life. One can only hope that this positive trajectory continues in the future.
