NCAA Gymnastics News: Arkansas Claims Top Spot in a War Against TWU

The recent performance of Arkansas Gymbacks at the TWU Quad meet in Denton, Texas was nothing short of a great spectacle! The team displayed striking routines across all rotations and claimed second place with a score of 197.375, their second-best score of the season.

This is the third time this season that Arkansas has scored over 197, marking their fifth-best team score. Despite being on the road for the last three meets, Arkansas Gymbacks have demonstrated their dominance with consistent performances. Thanks to their standout performances, the No. 16 Arkansas gymnastics team is now ranked just behind No. 10 Alabama.

Arkansas Gymnastics triumphs in TWU Quad

The Twitter handle of Arkansas Gymnastics, @RazorbackGym took to announce its recent victory against TWU. The caption to the post reads, “Gymbacks take second in the TWU Quad with our second-highest score of the season!” They secured a score of 197.375, scoring no lower than 49.200 in any discipline despite strong competition from Alabama, Arizona, and TWU. The infographic also mentions the scores of these teams, which include No. 10 Alabama (197.625), No. 19 Arizona (196.950), and host TWU (195.725).

The Arkansas team excelled in the floor routine with a remarkable score of 49.575, which again was their season’s best score. Not only this, it was their second-best score in program history. Freshman Hailey Klein scored 9.925 on the beam, securing her first-ever event title. Lauren Williams and Frankie Price also scored 9.950 on floor routines.

On the uneven bars, Arkansas scored 49.300 as Reese Drotar and Jamie Pratt led the team. Even on the beam, they excelled spectacularly with a score of 49.200. The beam performance saw spectacular routines from Hailey Klein and Kalyxta Gamiao. The Gymbacks also secured the team title on vault scoring 49.300. Klein, Williams, and Leah Smith excelled in this arena, each scoring 9.875. Claiming the title now, the team is all set for Kentucky!

Gearing up for SEC Dual Meet against Kentucky

Under Head Coach Jordyn Wieber, the team Arkansas Gymbacks has seen its top five all-time scores in the last four seasons. It highlights the team’s consistency under coach Weiber. The victory gives a confidence boost as Arkansas is focused on upcoming meets.

Now, after the triumph on the roads, Gymbacks will be returning home for an SEC dual meet against No. 6 Kentucky. It will take place on February 23rd at Barnhill Arena. Dubbed Equality Night, the event’s live coverage will be broadcast on SEC Network at 7:15 pm.
