NCAA Gymnastics News: Breaking Records at PMAC, LSU Gymnast Prepares to Go Against North Carolina

The LSU Tigers have had a captivating season on the mats of 2024 NCAA gymnastics season. Home games or away, the team has been consistent and resilient to stay afloat atop the national rankings. In their past week quad meet, the Tiger went 198.425, breaking school record and retaining their no.2 spot. Now moving ahead with the coveted position, the Tigers are high in spirit for everything the meet awaits.

On the 15th of March, the LSU Tigers will face North Carolina for final NCAA gymnastics regular season meet as well as for the senior night. As the roster proceeds for the clash, the PMAC – Tigers’ home ground – awaits with all its records in hopes of showdown worthy of a brilliant NQS.

Entering the meet, the LSU Tigers sit pretty and well with a program-high NQS of 198.125. As for North Carolina, the Tar Heels adorn 195.540. Looking into the history, the Tigers hold an undefeated 5-0-0 record with 1-0-0 in home. The meet on 15th will be only the 6th time the two have ever locked horns each other.

Junior Lali Dekanoidze, who leads the ACC with her 9.842 average on vault, Isabelle Schaefer who ranks second with her NQS of  9.89, and Julia Knower tying second with 9.925 on floor are some of the competitions the Tigers look forward to. LSU themselves have senior Haleigh Bryant leading the individual ranking with 39.800 NQS, Savannah Schoenherr coming strong with Specialist of the Week honor, and freshman Konnor McClain maintaining her top-10 position on beam.

With a talent-brimming roster, HC Jay Clark hopes to carry the momentum well and beyond. “We look forward to celebrating our seniors and getting back in front of our fans. But we still have business to take care of and we need to go out there and compete at a high level.” LSU will look for a triumphant NCAA gymnastics post season with 15th proving essential.

A glimpse into an evening of dual enthusiasm

The LSU Tigers will have their final home meet of the 2024 NCAA gymnastics regular season at Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The team has went 5-0 in the arena, further owning multiple records. On Feb 2nd, the Tigers posted 198.475 against Arkansas which set a program record. Which was also the 14th all-time best score in NCAA history. With numerous team and individual feats attained further, LSU will look to keep up the impressive numbers on Friday.

The introduction will begin at 7:19 p.m. CT with the first vault set for 7:32 p.m. CT.
