Last year, Jade Carey had thrown her weight behind improving her performance in the regular NCAA gymnastics season. Eventually, the OSU junior had attended the uncharted title of the highest-ranked all-around athlete in the season. Her sky-high average score had touched the boundary of 39.765. For a gymnast who is on her way to making it into the second Olympics of her career, that was enough to motivate her. But, in August, the benchmark Meet US Classic had watched Jade Carey rolling out a disproportionate performance. Eventually, she had missed the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship as well. Those ups and downs had kept the 23-year-old gymnast worried about consistency.

Jade Carey gives insights into her changeover

A valuable brand promotion is nothing new for Jade Carey. But this time the engagement with Dove made the gymnast release some of her life notions. On January 29, Jade Carey posted a series of IG stories where the first one displayed her using Dove products to attain “self care”. However, the second visual flaunted the Olympic gold medalist, saying, “I wasn’t always as confident as I am. As growing up a gymnast and always in a leotard, I often compared myself to others.” Soon after, she red-flagged that habit. Rather, Jade backed the embracing of each one’s presence highly.

Moreover, in her disbursal on facing insecurities, the 3x World champion artistic gymnast suggested speaking positively in front of a mirror at one’s ease. That mental hack received a shout-out from Jade Carey as she termed it a “game changer”. Eventually, that kind of introspection seemed to help the OSU athlete. At least before opening the gymnastics season, she backed heavily for going with a handful of events, unlike previous years. With that few extra changes came in her preparation as well.

The firm dealing with inconsistencies

Jade Carey’s insecurities in performance were visible last year. She had missed several big occasions. However, at the season’s end, the Arizona native had earned victory in the Swiss Cup. In the new season of NCAA gymnastics, she wanted to keep that form up front. So, for a change, Jade shifted under her father, Brian Carey’s coaching. Moreover, Oregon State University did its part in assigning the senior Carey to the assistant coach position.

The change was visible in her performance. In January this year, Jade Carey earned the title of the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week two times. The score remained also exorbitant, touching 9.975 straight. Now, the gymnast is evincing a chance to break the jinx she had faced in the last two seasons.
