“Kids Were Like Shaking”: Unaware of Simone Biles’ Popularity, Jonathan Owens Recalls the Moment He Experienced Her Goat Status

Jonathan Owens is currently standing on ground zero of one of the meanest controversies going on in the world. His recent appearance, along with Simone Biles at a podcast, was full of laughter and cheers until it was uploaded online. In the video, Owens said that he didn’t really know how big of a shot the 6x all-around world gymnastics champion was.

Although Jonathan Owens says that he wasn’t aware of the stature of Simone Biles, he did mention a moment where his mind said ‘Eureka!’ In fact, the Green Bay Packers safety also mentioned this instance in the podcast interview which resulted in so much flak.

When Owens actually met ‘the’ Simone Biles

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens made a guest appearance on The Pivot Podcast. The couple was asked about how their relationship had started and what their initial days of dating were like. Responding to this, the NFL star said that he didn’t have much idea of Biles before, but that somewhat changed due to an incident. 

Narrating his episode of epiphany, Owens said, “I think it was like a Sunday. We went it was all these moms and they’re there with their kids. And we walk past and everybody stopped, and just kids are like shaking and like oh my God.” As soon as he said this, the podcast host made fun of Owens saying he must’ve thought the people were going crazy for him.

Getting back to narration, Owens added, “They like, ‘here, can you take this picture?’” Owens, who thought he was having a celebrity experience, realized that he wasn’t the reason people had those starry eyes around him. According to the NFL player, this was the first time he met ‘the’ Simone Biles. Interestingly, the Packers safety also said that he had also received a hint before that. However, it wasn’t until this incident that he actually connected the dots.

The prelude to meeting the greatest gymnast of all time

While discussing the beginning of their dating phase, Owens said that he had once asked who Simone Biles usually competes with. Answering this question, the magnum opus of gymnastics said that she only competes with herself. However, her now husband thought that Biles was just giving a philosophical answer. Soon after, he was turned into the picture-clicking boy at the cafe.

This made him piece everything together and find out who he was actually dating. Interestingly, Owens wasn’t the only one speaking in the podcast. Commenting on the topic, Simone Biles said that while the world currently knows him as her husband, in the near future, the world will know her by Owens’ name. While her husband is currently taking infinite amounts of flak from the internet, Biles is firmly standing by in solidarity with her husband.
