Jonathan Owens’ recent contract with the Chicago Bears has been a happy run for the NFL safety and the 7-time Olympic medalist, Simone Biles. The new signing is set to bring in Owens a total of $4.5 million across 2 years as compared to $1.1 million a year previously. However, that hasn’t been the sole trajectory the couple has been excited about.

Simone Biles has often iterated her belief and support for Jonathan Owens in his course at the NFL; often blazing through the odds. As Owens walks a path of growth today, he reveals the deal is to ease the way for Biles as she stands firm in her stance.

A brighter path for the couple

Playing for the Green Bay Packers entailed plenty of obstructions for the couple. Simone Biles had to take on connecting flights and bear the harsh weather as she made it to Owens’ games. “Green Bay is tough bc there are no direct flights for us. I’m also afraid of the open dome / cold weather,”  were the gymnast’s words. Besides that, given the fame of Simone Biles, navigating through the airports and negating the attention of the enthusiasts is also quite a task. According to a recent conversation, with his move to Chicago, the worry cancels out for Simone.

“For her, it gets kind of difficult… walking through the airport,” Owens tells Fox32 Chicago. “I would be in Green Bay and she’s in the airport by herself and you have people just at the gate just waiting on her to sign a bunch of stuff. She’s 4’8, so it’s intimidating if 20 people, grown men come up to you with stuff to sign.” 

Jonathan Owens’ words highlight the complexities that are masked by a view of love and support. He reveals it has been something most people aren’t aware of or don’t understand. Nonetheless, Simone Biles managed to go through it all to get her cheer across. As she continues, Owens stands to reciprocate.

“I love it. I don’t care at all,” Owens says on Simone Biles’ fame. “That’s my wife. If anything, it’s like a respect thing that people always mention my wife first. We both support each other to the fullest.” At the end of the day, in the NFL star’s words, outside the social media buzz, the two are just any couple, loving, ‘chilling,’ and supportive.
