Legendary Gymnast Nastia Liukin Shares Excitement for NHL Action Between Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes

Nastia Liukin was born in Moscow. Following the dissolution of the erstwhile Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, her family moved to the United States. Now, she calls the city of Parker, Texas, her home. As a proud “Texan,” she too rejoices in the triumphs of the local teams. She celebrated the Texas Rangers’ first-ever World Series win. Liukin received further cause for celebration, this time via a different sport.

Nastia Liukin was present at the American Airlines Center in Dallas to watch NHL sides, the Dallas Stars take on the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes raced into the lead, opening the scoring with 14:27 on the clock. Clayton Keller got the goal, assisted by Barrett Hayton. It took a little over 12 minutes for the Stars to respond to that goal. Liukin preserved that moment and shared it via social media, .

Taking to Instagram, Nastia Liukin jubilantly shared a story. It was a video taken as the Dallas Stars celebrated their response to the visitors’ goal. Esa Lindell leveled the scores at 1-1, with 2:08 on the clock in the first period. Nils Lundkvist and Joe Pavelski got the assist. The video featured a view of the big, ginormous screens after Lindell scored. With the lights flashing around overhead following the goal, not much else could be discerned. There were many more goals left in the game, though, that’s for certain.

Roope Hintz gave the home side the lead in the second period during a power play. In the third period, Jason Zucker brought the Coyotes level on a power play of their own. Two minutes and 15 seconds later, the Coyotes led once more through Lawson Crouse. Tyler Seguin took the game to overtime, scoring with 3:20 remaining. There was one final twist in the tale yet to come. 42 seconds into overtime, scorer turned provider, with Seguin assisting Matt Duchene for the winner. The game ended 4-3 to the Stars, which would have delighted Nastia Liukin to no end.

Nastia Liukin enjoying her retired life with utmost splendour

Nastia Liukin secured five Olympic medals in 2008, including the gold in the gymnastics individual all-around. She retired in July 2012 after failing to qualify for the Olympic team. Liukin now has other ventures in the pipeline. Recently, she partnered with the department store chain Dillards and launched her very own fashion line. Regardless, she finds the time to cheer on local teams and revel in their successes.

The Dallas Stars are enjoying a superb season thus far. They are 11-3-1 and won their fourth hockey game in succession, beating the Arizona Coyotes. The Stars made it as far as the Western Conference finals last season, where they lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Vegas Golden Knights. All that remains is to see how far they go this season.
