Olivia Dunne Showcases Her SEC Performance That Helped LSU Score the Big Victory

Olivia Dunne was one of the prime contributors to LSU Tigers gymnastics’ latest win during the SEC championships held on the 23rd of March 2024 in New Orleans. Clinching their fifth title, the LSU Tigers commanded its opponents, the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, and the University of Kentucky Wildcats in its recent quad meet.

The purple team outshone its 198.075 total, against the other teams’ 197.750 (Alabama), 197.600 (Kentucky), and 197.300 (Gators). The other LSU winning contributors, along with Olivia Dunne’s spectacular swings, led the team to secure their other SEC title. Livvy seems to be yet to come out of the win, as she recently posted some clips from her routine during the meet.

Livvy took to her Snapchat, showcasing her routine on the floor and uneven bars. She delivered a 9.800 score, to clinch the 3rd spot on the bars during her second appearance in the championship. The LSU gymnast had a stellar start in the season as she sut up a score of 9.875 in floor routine against Ohio. This is the 14th-best score in NCAA history.

Later against Arkansas, she tied her floor routine score. In that, she also scored 9.775 on the uneven bars. Interestingly, apart from gymnastic routines, there is something more in which Livvy became well-versed this year. Having an outrageously massive audience following her on TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter, Olivia Dunne claimed to have learned to handle the fame. On a previous occasion, she opened up on this.

Not scared of critics, she continues to be on her path

Just before the start of Dunne’s fourth year at LSU, she talked to People magazine about handling her online fame. Explaining the matter, Olivia told, “The past few years, juggling NIL or ever since my sophomore year, since the summer of 2021, I’ve definitely had a hard time finding balance. That’s really important because if you don’t have balance, that can affect your mental health. I finally feel like I got a grasp on it this year. It’s just compartmentalizing things mentally is very important in my everyday routine.” Her mental maturity has shown on some occasions when she took some unsolicited opinions head-on.

Last year, Olivia Dunne was criticized by some social media users for posting bold pictures of herself in leotards. Dunne played it straight, saying, “It’s not a girl’s responsibility how a man looks at her or how he acts, especially when you’re doing your sport and that’s your uniform.” She also elaborated that to silence such stuff, the only way is to keep being successful which automatically outshines all these. We can only say, more power to you girl!
