Clad in a silver and white leotard, Andrade’s flips looked facile. It seemed like the Brazilian native looked forward to setting the bars high, but couldn’t clinch a win this time. Owing to her individual score, Brazil managed the position with a total of 164.297. But Simone smiles inside for having taken the well-deserved World Championships revenge. Her two-year-long hiatus paid off really well at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships qualifiers.

Rebeca’s 2022 Worlds win

The 23-year-old favourite, Andrade, triumphed with 56.899 points, 1.5 points ahead of American Shilese Jones, who took second place. Jones, who finished in 10th place in the 2016 Olympic Trials, was prepared to retire from competitive gymnastics. However, her silver finish, with 55.399, asserted her prowess as a star gymnast. Days after, Rebeca candidly spoke to Olympics.com about her much-deserved victory. She said, “All my effort was worth it and all that I’ve been through was worth it.” On the other hand, Simone, who was preparing herself for the 2023 comeback, chalked her plan beforehand.
