After the horrifying debilitating kidney disease, the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist has been facing, Suni Lee could not make it to the Team USA April Camp, unfortunately. Unable to etch her name in a list of 18 artistic gymnasts who have qualified for the National Training Camp in April, her chances to make up to the Olympic Trials, for the ultimate selection, stay on stand-by mode.

With only a limited number of opportunities left in her hand, Suni Lee still progresses on her path to the Paris Olympics 2024. The US Championships which would encompass the American Classic event, is one of those valuable opportunities that could expand the likeliness of her Olympic Trial qualifications.

After the unfortunate news of Suni Lee not going to the USA April Camp, her chances of qualifying for the Olympic Trials have lessened quite much. Knowing of the procedure to qualify for the Olympic Trials, another one from the online audience stated, She doesn’t have to compete internationally. She has to qualify for championships or have an accepted petition. The petition guidelines are strict though. Reasoning the petition procedure, fans responded, “You can petition to either Classic, but you have to provide proof of injury/illness to petition for championships. and “There are ways to petition for both championships and trials, but guidelines are different.” A fan said, “.. It makes sense to abandon that path and focus on the Olympics.., knowing that Suni Lee wanted to etch her name to the Baku.
