Simone Biles was just three years old when her biological mother’s custody rights were terminated by the officials. Having no options, the Biles siblings were shifted to foster care. Jumping from one foster care to the other, the days were difficult for the young children. As the future remained uncertain, things changed for the better. On learning about the situation Ronald and his wife Nellie stepped in to take care of their grandkids.

Soon the grandparents took up the role of their parents. As days passed, the relationship grew stronger and irreplaceable. It was not just Ron who helped Simone and her siblings get a comfortable life, but also Nellie who showered the children with her love. Talking about the influence that Nellie had on her, back in 2016, the Olympian took her fans down memory lane.

Simone Biles talked about her mother’s influence 

As Simone sat down to discuss her new book, “Courage to Soar,” the gymnast GOAT had a lot to say about her mother. Talking about the influence that Nellie had on her, the 25-year-old remarked how she encouraged her to lead a more disciplined life.

The Olympic gold medalist informed that her mother would say, “Simone, write down your short-term and your long-term goals.” However, she confessed that sometimes it would be difficult for her. She said, “Sometimes I dread.” Though she informed that with time she got used to it.

Abiding by her mother’s instructions, she said, “So I write down short-term and long-term of what I do that year.” However, following her mother’s instructions always is not easy. She revealed, “But I haven’t made any goals yet, so I am kind of trying to embrace the moment and live in it, yeah!”

Simone’s unique relationship with her mother 

Simone shares a close relationship with her mother. She considered her best friend. But the relationship was not always the same. In her teenage years, Simone would often had difference of views regarding things with her. They had their share of disagreements, but the love always brought them closer.

But with time, their bond grew stronger. The teenage years were challenging, but communication helped them distance the gap. Speaking on the difficult period in their relationship, she stated, “I’ve learnt that I always have to express precisely how I’m feeling, so she understands how to handle it.”
