22-Year-Old Gymnastics Star Jordan Chiles Joins Her Tribe for 2024 Paris Olympics

American artistic athlete Jordan Chiles is no stranger to the athletic spotlight. Interestingly, the UCLA star has been garnering regard ever since she stepped foot in the world of gymnastics. Her gymnastics career took up pace in 2013, when she debuted in the American Classic, and won the bronze medal. She quickly made it to the echelons of gymnastics, with prominent career highlights in 2022.

Chiles has often made it to the news with her remarks and actions, which opened up discussions in the community. From mentally quitting her professional career until she met Simone Biles, to facing rejection to qualify for the World Championship, the young star has covered it all. The 22-year-old has yet again made it to the headlines after her recent interview.

In her most recent interview, she spoke with the Daily Bruin on June 11, 2023. The interview revealed some bold remarks made by Chiles. She eloquently spoke about her gymnastics career, future plans, and pulled of the curtains from her excitement for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Gina Chiles, Jordan’s mom, who was part of the interview, said Jordan was done after the 2020 Olympics and was “going to go and do UCLA” before quitting gymnastics.

She then briefly spoke of her work and stated, “It’s more so being able just to leave a legacy beyond the legacy I’m already leaving now,” leaving room for no doubts. As gymnastics fans are currently waiting for Chile’s next competitive performance, she believes she has not yet hit her peak. As for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, she adds her name to the list of fellow gymnasts Shilese Jones and Konnor McClain, leaving fans desperate for her next big win.

Chiles had an impressive Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020 with her vault and floor exercise, as she took home a silver medal and astounded her fandom. Now that she has had more time to improve her skills and become used to the competitive mentality that the Olympics demand, Chiles is keeping a closer check on her future goals.

Big girl got big plans for her athletic career

She won the all-around in her senior year and was a member of the team, securing first position in the All-American award. She returned to Texas to zero in on her Olympics training post her UCLA completion. The young athlete mentioned, “I’m doing it for me,”as she talks about her plans ahead of the Olympics. She further talked about getting benefited by the NIL deals, which served her with the perfect opportunity she was always looking for. She goes on to add how she could reveal her true self, along with showing her sporting abilities to the world.

Since the Bruins failed to make it to the national competition, the gymnast could not live up to her expectations as a freshman. Even when she returned to UCLA, she had her doubts, and it turned out to be another gloomy year for her. With the help of her brilliant coaches Cecile and Laurent Landi, she continued to take on new milestones at UCLA. With her successful years under the big names of UCLA and NCAA gymnastics, her coach complemented her attitude as “competitive” and that Chiles brought “lightness that the team needed”. As the conversation went further ahead and discussions turned to the Olympics, both the 2020 and the upcoming 2024 ones.
