The best gymnasts in America are currently vying at the first heat of the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in San Jose. At about 5:00 PM, rotation one at SAP Center got underway with the first discipline of the first day. Simone Biles continues to reign second U.S. National event

Simone Biles’ first victory of the night in the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships got the competition off to a strong start. With Biles leading the way on the balance beam with 14.450 points, America had its first winning list of the day in less than an hour.

Here’s how the act unfolded for Biles in a bedazzled purple leotard –

With the switch leap mount, Biles started to sway right away. The rapid combination series got triple wolf turns with additional wobbles. Her right foot was slightly off-balance on her mount, causing her to wobble before she regained her balance. Simply put, she was a touch unsteady in the beginning but picked it up at the finish line like a seasoned competitor.

On the first day, Skyle Blakely came third with an all-around score of 55.700. 5X U.S. Classic gold medalist Leanne Wong came in fourth at 55.350, followed by the 2020 Olympic silver medallist Jordan Chiles with 54.600.

Where does Simone Biles stand on day 1 of the U.S. National Championship?

The day just cannot get any better for Biles who is at the top of the gymnastics standing. Biles scored a flawless dismount to get a 14.450 on the beam, the highest score among other gymnasts. Next, she tallied a stunning 15.700 on the vault and won the floor competition with a 14.800 total.

In the last rotation, Biles scored her lowest mark of the day 14.350 on the bars. However, Biles finished with an impressive margin over her nearest rival, 22-year-old Shilese Jones, who earned 56.550 while Biles earned a stunning 59.300 overall.
