Simone Biles fought her way to the boy’s soccer team

Growing up had not been easy. Simone always felt out-of-the-box, be it self-consciousness about her height or her muscular build. She did not consider herself to be the “cool kid.” But there was one incident that perhaps placed her on the list.

Being typical of herself, Simone Biles fought her way to the boy’s soccer game. Seeing her and her friend Megan, the boys unapologetically shouted, “Get off the field! No girls allowed!” The boys thought she was not tough enough for the game.

When Simone and her friend would tackle the boys, they would, in turn, kick their shins intentionally to hurt them. Taking a stand for themselves, Simone shouted back, saying, “If you’re going to kick our shins, we’re going to kick your shins too, and we’re going to take the ball away from you.” 

The boys soon realized Simone and Megan were too tough for them. Much to their despair, the girls played soccer for the entire year.

Simone, the fighter

Simone is a strong-headed person, who knows how to stick with her decision. If she has decided something, she will stand with it regardless of what people think and say. She sent the world into a frenzy when she withdrew her name from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics.

Simone’s bravest move was not on the vaults or her performing daring artistic gymnastic moves. It was her taking a stand for herself, prioritizing her state of mind over medals. She taught the world the art of believing.
