Simone Biles and Beyonce are legends in their respective fields. While many fans consider Biles one of the greatest gymnasts, Beyonce is among the most iconic pop musicians ever. Biles is the only American female gymnast to win four Olympic golds in a single outing. Similarly, Beyonce is the most-nominated female artist in the Grammy Awards history.

However, there is one dissimilarity between the pair. Biles grew up idolizing the pop icon. So in 2014, fans pleasantly surprised her when they began calling Biles a particular nickname.

Simone Biles found the nickname to be hilarious

In October 2014, the then-future Olympic gold medalist took to Twitter to address her fans. “lol how people called me Beyonce of gymnastics,” tweeted Biles. However, she found it surprising the fans began using Beyonce’s nickname “Queen bee/bey/b” to address her as well. “Now they’re calling me queen b, hahaahahahaha ! You guys are hilarious. Love yall,” wrote the gymnast.

The pop icon has spent close to three decades in the music industry. Throughout Beyonce’s illustrious career, she has sold millions of albums. The pop icon also appeared on Rolling Stones magazine’s top 100 millennials list. Today, Beyonce is valued at around half a billion dollars and earned her nickname “Queen Bey”.

However, fans had another reason to compare Biles to Beyonce. While receiving her gold medal at the 2014 gymnastics world championship, a bee attacked Biles. At the 2014 world championships, the Olympic legend won four golds and a bronze.

However, Biles was just getting started. In 2015, the American won four golds at the world championships. She skipped worlds in 2016 to focus on the Rio Olympics, and at her Olympic games, Biles had five medals. Four golds, including a gold medal in the all-around, and one bronze medal.

When one icon met another icon,

Shortly after the Rio Olympics, Biles met Beyonce. At the Sherri Hill fashion show, the gymnast gave an interview describing how it felt to meet the pop icon. The interviewer asked Simone if she had met anyone, “that totally made you (Simone) fangirl?” Simone answered meeting Beyonce and Kim Kardashian was “wild” and “fun”.

“That was pretty crazy. Beyonce knew I was from Houston,” said Simone. However, she didn’t expect the pop star to know where she lived. “I died a little inside,” explained Simone because she was too excited.
