Sky Brown, along with Simone Biles, Tom Daley, Marc Márquez, Annemiek van Vleuten, and Mark Cavendish was nominated for the World Comeback of the Year Award. All these athletes showed phenomenal strength in coming back even after multiple hurdles in their way. But it was unexpected that the youngest one of them would walk away with the award.

Brown herself was overjoyed at this honor and took to her Instagram to express her joy.

“Thank you to the Laureus Academy for voting for me. This is insane. I had some ups and downs,” said Brown. Notably, Brown had a serious injury back in 2020. She suffered from multiple skull fractures and a broken arm, fingers, and lacerations to her heart and lungs. This caused her to be in the hospital for weeks.

“Falling and having a pretty bad accident and getting back up and winning a medal which is insane. I’m so thankful for everything.” She added.

However, even after this life-threatening injury, Sky stood right back up and soon started gearing up for the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020. At the park skateboarding event, the 13-year-old earned a bronze medal, making her country proud.
