Two months into her comeback, Biles is returning to Antwerp, where her global championships journey began in 2013. In a candid conversation with Olympics.com, the champion spoke about various aspects of her life. However, what stood out was her perspective on success and setting personal goals.

Biles’ forward-looking mindset is her driving force. She shared, “I think mostly it was thinking about the future – in 10 years when I look back, do I want to have regrets? Do I want to watch events like Worlds or Paris on TV and think, ‘If only I had put in a little more effort?’ Because my career won’t last forever.” Continuing, ?But I won?t be able to do my career forever.?

She’s back in the game, dominating it just like she did for a decade. But while her breathtaking gymnastic feats remain the same, her approach to the sport and her definition of success have evolved. “In the past, everyone defined success for me, even if I had my vision. Now, it’s about showing up, being in a good mental place, having fun out there, and accepting whatever happens”, Biles said.
Her words signify the immense confidence required by athletes. Despite a two-year hiatus, Simone Biles hasn’t allowed her performances to be impacted in the slightest. Her return to gymnastics has sparked intense competition, and here’s Biles’ perspective on it.
Simone Biles is back to the competitive arena
Simone Biles-Owens has spoken out after USA Gymnastics announced her return to competition. Organizers for the 2023 U.S. Classic revealed her participation in the event starting on August 5th at NOW Arena in Chicago. Simone, humbled by the support, apologized for her brief absence and expressed her excitement to return to the competition floor.
Her last competition was at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, followed by her “Gold Over America Tour.” Reflecting on her future during that time, she said, “Right now, I?m taking it one step at a time. I feel like I haven?t fully processed Tokyo yet. Once I do, I’ll decide my direction.”

In essence, at 26 years old, she has claimed victory in every aspect of gymnastics, often multiple times. With an impressive tally of 25 world medals, including an astounding 19 golds, she has set records in nearly every category within the sport. Her next destination is Antwerp, Belgium, and there, she is already setting her sights on the 2024 Paris Olympics.
