Tony Estanguet addresses concerns regarding Paris 2024 Olympics

Estanguet was the face of Paris’s bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The former Olympic canoeing champion was still in his office at the Olympic headquarters when police came knocking. The Frenchman admits that his whole staff was rather surprised by the raiding of their headquarters by the French police. However, the Olympic Chief maintains that the corruption and ethical scandal have no weight, but he along with his colleagues will continue to cooperate with the authorities. Estanguet firmly believes that there will surely be more questions to answer as the investigation progress. He is of the opinion that the scrutiny will continue right till the end and maybe even after the Games have concluded.

A 3x Olympic gold medalist himself, the Frenchman emphasized the committee has a foolproof system in place that will make Paris “the safest place in the world” during the opening ceremony on July 26. The chief organizer acknowledges that there is still a lot of unfinished work until they officially declare the games open next year. Estanguet believes it is quite normal that a lot of things are still not completed. France is hosting the Summer Olympics exactly after 100 years. They last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1924. The Olympic chief and his whole office have come under a global spotlight, but the Olympic winner refutes all charges.
