The legendary Jeff C. Runco trained Coastal Mission colt saw his best horse racing season this year. Pairing with seasoned jockey, Arnaldo Bocachica, the equine earned a whooping 44,820,5 in this sole season. That achievement couldn’t find almost anyone in the horse racing to give it a better run. However, at this onset, the mythical sire of Coastal Mission sneaked into the limelight he is habituated with.

The Northview Stallion Station sire has often been cherished as the best from the horseracing camp to date. However, Coastal Mission appears to be just one of his progenies where the others can make a justifiable mention.

Great Notion gives the impression of siring another horse racing champion

After finishing a successful season in horse racing, Great Notion was featured in Thoroughbred Daily News’ X-post. The caption of the post narrated the royale movement of the stallion in an obvious manner as it read, “Catching up with the King of the Maryland Stallion Ranks: GREAT NOTION…Enjoying his winter break at Northview Stallion Station”. For giving a tinkering update on Great Notion’s achievement, the post fervently added, “As of Dec. 19, he’s had 75 winners/125 runners with seven stakes winners (13 stakes horses). He ranks just ahead of fellow Northview stallion Golden Lad (Medaglia d’Oro).” That certainly opened up the fabled tale of the stallion that he has been gifting since his emergence in the business.

In horse racing consistency may be a hard-earned glory. But for Great Notion, it seemed like another day in the park. Since 2016, he has been topping the list of Stallion of the Year. Whereas in the last two seasons, the progeny earnings toppled the handsome 3 million margin. Even Coastal Mission’s earnings this season felt puny in front of Great Notion’s progeny, ANNA’S BANDIT. In 2019, she claimed seven stakes wins. So before 2024, expectations from the stallion grew higher.

In the crowd of Coastal Mission or ANNA’S BANDIT, HAVELOCK may stand tall. This progeny of Great Notion had claimed a $655,752 sum with five-time graded stakes. Also, another progeny, Ruby Notion the double record holder in course garnered reverence for their sire, Great Notion.

Combining all these records and earnings, Great Notion boasted a sum level of $80,000 for season after season even after the fixed stud fee of $ 7,500 from 2020. Now on the eve of the 2024 season, the equestrian luminary showed nothing dissimilar in his movement. So his farm manager, Francisco Torres might be hopeful for another great season in the trot.
