Noting her route defying all odds, he said, “She ran poorly in her only other start on turf at Woodbine, but her figure in that race still matched up with a lot of the horses in her last one.” In the dirt ground, Ozara took the lead halfway up the stretch until Living Magic gave her best effort in the last furlong to win by a distance of 1 1/4 lengths.

Past Triumphs of Living Magic
A maiden victory at Parx Racing on May 1 marked the debut of Kentucky homebred Living Magic. She won her first race at Parx Racing’s main track. However, on June 11 at Belmont Park, she finished third in the Astoria. The sole off-the-board performance Living Magic had in her turf racing came on August 20 at Woodbine when she finished sixth in the Catch a Glimpse. Despite this disappointment, Schoenthal was taken aback by the long odds placed on his horse for the next Chelsey Flower.
