However, on January 30, Team USA triumphed over Canada in a shootout, securing a hard-fought 6-5 victory. Despite being outshot 42-17, the U.S. showcased resilience. Goaltender Xavier Wendt made 37 crucial saves. This marked the third consecutive shootout for Team USA, overcoming earlier losses to Slovakia (5-4) and Czechia (6-5) in the preliminary round. Head coach Joe Bonnett praised the team’s effort and chemistry. He expressed pride in their journey as they advanced to the gold-medal game against Czechia.
