It is said that the passion and love for a sport develop at a very early age for athletes. But exactly how young can an enthusiast actually be, before they start playing their favorite sport? As far as a viral video online is concerned, even a toddler can take up a sport and show exceedingly great skills at the mere age of 1. When NHL fans saw the video of this one-year-old kid skating on the ice and scoring a goal, their reactions to it are adorable, funny, and praiseworthy for the toddler’s passion.

The video is getting viral for a funny reason, where the toddler, unaware of the rules, is bending them to his own will. However, it is his passion and zeal to go out on the ice and play hockey, that captivated the attention of ice hockey fans all around.

A Facebook post by SPORTbible went, “One-Year-Old Learning To Play Hockey Might Need To Look Up The Rules…” followed with a laughing emoji. The emoji perfectly conveyed the reaction to the cuteness of the moment. The caption further read, “Nothing to see here” followed by a few more emojis.

The one-year-old kid is just learning to play ice hockey and assumably might want to end up in NHL someday. In the video, the kid, replete in ice hockey gear, is holding the hockey stick in his left hand and trying to hit the puck. After a few seconds, when he failed to do so, he went up to the goalpost, grabbed it with his right hand, and in a hilarious moment, moved it forward toward the puck.

After positioning the goalpost perfectly in front of the puck, the kid finally put a goal in. Whatever the rules, it was a satisfactory and wholesome moment for the one-year-old.

NHL fans aren’t upset but instead impressed by the kid’s interest in the game

The happiness and contentment of scoring a goal were visible on his face. Despite its rule-bending nature, it drew adorable reactions from everyone due to the extremely young age of the player. Here’s how some of them reacted:

“I Swear I’ve Seen This at Some NHL Games”, wrote a fan, drawing a humorous comparison between this kid and professional players. “Well, I’m impressed that he can even skate”, wrote someone fairly praising the one-year-old for punching above his weight. “Problem solved!!! Smart kid”, wrote another person who could see the light-hearted nature behind this kid’s intentions.

“He is doing great on ice skates. He is thinking on his feet too”. Except for calling him out for changing the rules, this fan praised the kid for his presence of mind and application of his brain. “Work smart Not hard”, wrote another fan who was impressed by the kid’s intelligence.

While clearly all of these reactions wouldn’t have flown, had it been in professional NHL, the idea that the sport has seeped deep into one-year-olds speaks volumes about its popularity. While another kid’s wish of getting a two-day NHL contract with the Dallas Stars was fulfilled once, there may be something in store for this toddler in the future.
