The bells for the Paris Olympics have started ringing, as we’re just 135 days away. Scheduled to take place from July 26, the two-week-long event will be a spectacle to cherish for a long time. The multi-sport Summer Games were last hosted in the French capital in 1924. Now, a century later, the major European city will look to ameliorate to its maximum ability.

On 13th September 2017, the 131st IOC session in Peru settled with Paris as the 2024 Summer Games’ venue. But interestingly, it was a close call between Paris and the Californian city, Los Angeles. But the tables turned when Casey Wasserman issued a statement recently. The Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Summer Olympic Games’ chairman shed light on why the 2028 Olympic leg will be better than the 2024 one.

A big claim by the LA 2028 Olympics’ chairman Casey Wasserman

In 2017, the IOC session selected Los Angeles as the 2028 Summer Olympics venue. But in The Bill Simmons Podcast, Wasserman joined Simmons to share why the US is more stable than the French city financially. “I would say the biggest positive, which we believe but continue to get validated is the power of this country’s passion for and willing to spend and support big sporting events and big global events. So we have more revenue today contracted than Paris will generate in total. And we’re four years from the game”. Though this was a greater claim, considering the history, the Olympics four years after will be held on a significantly larger scale. According to his further statements, a lot of things are already in place.

The Los Angeles Clippers’ Intuit Dome is girding up for the Basketball event in 2028, and the SoFi Stadium will host the highly anticipated opening ceremony. But something still keeps Wasserman up at night, which differs from his statement, “The revenue has done what we thought”.

Wasserman’s reason for concern

“The good is we get to do things in a rational business driven, economically minded way. The challenge is, which is the part that keeps me up at night is, is this, the Olympics in LA will be the largest peacetime gathering in the history of the world”, said the chairman. He further continued, “It is a level of complexity and scale that is unimaginable”.

Since the last Olympic meet was conditioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been years that people beheld the Olympics in its truest essence. “It’s been a long time since people have seen what the Olympics can be”, said Wasserman. But the US, being home to the world’s finest athletes, is as excited as ever for 2028.
