Although legendary actor Jackie Chan is called a ‘family man’, he once revealed how he was not the same earlier. After her marriage to Chan, his wife, and former Taiwanese actress Joan Lin sacrificed her career to be with the legendary actor. Despite this, Chan never trusted Lin with his money and ensured not to lose a single penny if they ever got divorced.

While confessing this in his book, Never Grow Up, the martial arts expert revealed what made him lose his trust in his wife and how he felt about it later in his career.

Jackie Chan doubted his wife, Joan Lin

After marrying the famous American actor in 1982, Lin left her country to live with her husband in the States. In the same year, she gave birth to their son Jaycee. By then, Chan had become an A-listed actor in the Hollywood industry and was earning well. However, despite all the money, when it came to sharing his wealth with his partner, the iconic actor held back.

In his memoir, Never Grow Up, Chan revealed,?“Although I frittered away my own money like crazy, I never gave Joan access to my bank accounts and made sure that, if we were to divorce, she wouldn?t receive a dime“. The root cause for this was Chan’s unfounded suspicions.

Chan’s friend, and director Lo Wei’s assets were emptied by one of his girlfriends, while he was away on a shoot. This made Chan vary of women in general. Besides, Chan’s friends would also fill his mind with suspicions about Lin’s motives. However, an older and wiser Chan admitted to his mistakes in the book. He wrote, “I?m embarrassed and ashamed to say this now, but I was constantly thinking of ways to keep my money away from her. I was the wicked one, not her, and also stupid.”

But now, Chan’s mindset has changed, and the lovely couple is still going strong together. Lin has also become an investor in real estate and has a penchant for one luxurious item.

Chan’s wife is loyal to this luxurious brand

Joan Lin seems to be a fan of french lingerie brands and loves a particular brand named Chantelle. Chan is a loyal customer of the brand and every year visits the French store twice.

The former actress spends approximately NT$500,000 (S$24,000) and rounds up a total bill of NT$1mil (S$49,000), every year. Lin pays her bills with a black card and has become a VIP customer of the brand. It is also believed that Lin loves gifting the same lingerie to her friends.
