Caitlyn Jenner is also popular for her activism regarding transgender rights. However, not many trans and LQBTQ+ activists are on her team. Although they are fighting for the same cause, their views and perspective are not in alignment. Besides this, Caitlyn’s persona is also unique, and she has a strong point of view on most things. 

Not long ago, the decathlon champion shared her views regarding Gwen Berry’s protest at the U.S Olympic track and field trials. Furthermore, she also called upon the media in the same context. 

Caitlyn Jenner talked about Berry’s daring step

Caitlyn Jenner, then Bruce Jenner, is a former Olympic champion decathlete. One of her best performances was in 1976, which made her famous worldwide. Not only sports but the athlete is also inclined toward TV and film. 

During an interview in 2021, Caitlyn talked about Gwen Berry, an American track and field athlete. She termed Berry’s protest as “disrespectful” and suggested athletes to respect the United States. 

“Ninety-eight percent, ninety-nine percent of the athletes that are going over there are patriotic. They want to do it right. They want to represent their country. Right,” said Caitlyn Jenner.

Furthermore, she spoke well of the first rank holder, DeAnna Price. In the same vein, she added that the media always focuses on the wrong things, just like they’re doing in this case.

“But unfortunately, the media focuses on the ruins of the world. And it’s a shame. It’s an absolute shame,” she concluded.

Views and opinions might indeed be different from person to person. While one might find Caitlyn’s word sensible, the other might not.

Why did Gwen Berry protest? 

Gwen Berry is an expert at hammer throw and won a bronze at the Olympic trials last year. But that’s not the news. The twist in the story came when Berry reached the podium to receive her medal.

According to the plan, they were supposed to play the National Anthem before her medal ceremony. Nevertheless, things didn’t go that way and the National Anthem started when she walked out. 

“I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” said the track and field expert. “I was pissed, to be honest.”

Berry was disappointed and pissed because of it. While the other two players stood straight, faced the flag, and placed their right hands over their hearts, Berry turned her back. Eventually, she wrapped a black T-shirt on her head that read “Activist Athlete.”
