The duo first met each other during the Midsummer Eve festival of 2020 and have been together ever since. While Mondo Duplantis treats his girlfriend like a blessing, she had once literally blessed him with good luck. In fact, had it not been for Desire Inglander, Duplantis may have never won his Tokyo Olympics gold medal.

The lucky escape that earned Duplantis an Olympic gold

Armand Mondo Duplantis recently broke past his own world record at the 2023 Eugene Diamond League and set the new record at 6.23 meters. While his caliber has easily made him the best pole vaulter of all time, he barely escaped missing the Olympics. The Swede was competing in his first Olympics, which had been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The young Duplantis had arranged for a pre-game meetup with a rival, but couldn’t make it because of Inglander.

Mondo Duplantis revealed that he failed to make it to the coffee meetup since he was on a long call with his girlfriend. It was later found that the US rival he was about to meet, tested positive for COVID-19. Thus, although purely by luck, his Lady Love played a part in his first-ever Olympic gold medal. The 23-year-old now looks forward to his next Olympic gold medal on the grand stage of Paris. The showdown begins in another 290 days.
